Sometimes all it takes to bring a dated item back into the fashion zeitgeist is a few celebrity endorsements. You’ll remember stars like Kendall Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski leading the revival of UGG boots, or Sarah Jessica Parker single-handedly bringing back the Fendi Baguette bag. In the past year or two, you may also have noticed that celebrities have put a certain Adidas shoe back on the map. Yes, we’re talking about the brand’s Samba sneakers, which Jennifer Lawrence recently wore. In fact, she liked the ’90s style so much she wore them twice while in New York this week.
J.Law wore nostalgia for the first time while strolling around New York with husband Cooke Maroney on March 22. For Tuesday afternoon’s party, the actor wore a gray version of his sneakers with a Maria McManus trench coat, baggy olive green pants and The Row x Oliver Peoples hues. (Sidenote: Bookmark this look when you need to dress up for spring with a premium transitional outfit.) The next day, the actress once again reached for her shoes and slipped them on for a date in town. She kept the look effortless and chic by pairing the sneakers with a white pullover, straight-leg navy pants and The Row’s Margaux 17 leather tote. If you know the actor’s style, you’ll know that she usually prefers sleek ballet flats, however, this time the Adidas style seemed to make her go-to style worthwhile.
As mentioned earlier, several fashionable celebrities have helped revive the soccer shoe over the past few years. Bella Hadid, for example, has worn this style several times, often with a casual t-shirt or a luxurious button-down shirt and casual jeans, as seen in the photo below. Models and trendsetters Hailey Bieber and Kaia Gerber are also fans of the shoes.
