I didn’t like Fenty Beauty’s first mascara Full Frontal Volume, Lift & Curl Mascara. It was a good mascara, but nothing life-changing or on the level of Robyn Rihanna Fenty. Well, Fenty Beauty Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara changed everything. The new, long-lasting, flake-proof volumizing mascara is sweeping TikTok. As a mascara obsessive, I knew I had to try it to see if it was worth the hype. Hint; it is.
The first time I’ve seen comments from TikTokers like Katie (@katiehub.org), Jackie Aina (under her @jackiesburner account) and Rose Siard (@roseandben). These ladies know mascara. I’ve read hundreds of their reviews over the years, so I trust their expertise. They all love it. You can see how long and voluminous Katie’s lashes have become. Jackie shows us how to use the mascara vertically to get perfectly full lower lashes, and Rose says, “It’s really pretty,” although she admits it provides more volume than separation. (That’s exciting for me, not for her.)
I like a very thick mascara that gives a quick dramatic effect with just a few swipes. My favorite OG brand, Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume mascara, was discontinued after the brand went out of business. I had high hopes that it would be a hoax because 1) the packaging looked similar and 2) it came from the same parent company, LVMH.
Without curling my lashes or even using a real mirror (this is a real review!) ), I applied a few coats of Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara to my bare lashes. I was with a friend who was looking for a new mascara at the time. Before I could see the finished result, she looked at me and said, “Okay, I’ll get it right away.”
When I tell you I made no effort to use this mascara, I mean it. It looks great. My lashes were long and thick all day long. Seriously, it didn’t clump or flake at all. I’m not sure if this is a rip-off from my beloved Marc Jacobs Beauty, but it’s very, very close. (MJ is a little lighter.) If your lashes are super straight, you’ll want to curl them first, because this isn’t really a curling mascara.
It’s also interesting to note that Hella Thicc Volumizing Mascara is a dollar or two cheaper than most of Sephora’s mascaras. Not a huge difference, but every dollar counts, right? Try it now at Sephora.
