Wherever you go in the great low-waisted denim debate, you can’t deny that the early trend is back in full force. Brands like Valentino, Tibi and Agolde are adding plunging styles to their repertoire – A too – with stars like Dua Lipa, Julia Fox and Emma Roberts. In fact, in a recent interview with TZR, the actress claimed that low-waisted jeans are her go-to for spring and summer.
“I mean, I would say my jeans are getting lower and lower,” Roberts says, “and they’re slowly getting lower. When I was in my 20s, it was all about mom jeans, and it was hard for me to give them up.” [But] the button on my jeans is no longer above my belly button, so that’s new to me.”
In addition to her new approach to denim, the actress keeps it very classic when it comes to her must-have style. That’s probably why her looks always feel so approachable and effortless. Definitely the classic blue jean color in RE/DONE Levi’s jeans,” Roberts says of her tried-and-true dressing formula. And it’s just a black or cream blazer. I think that’s always the easiest …… and casual shoes. It’s good for meetings. It’s also good for meeting friends.
The penchant for versatility is certainly evident in Roberts’ footwear, as evidenced by her new collaboration with DSW’s in-house shoe line, Crown Vintage. For the spring collection, which was released on April 11, the star chose silhouettes and styles that perfectly balance comfort and timelessness. Think the aforementioned versatile neutral colored loafers, wooden sandals with thin thick soles and chunky heels, and sleek Mary Jane style flats.
Roberts raved, “What I love is that a lot of the shoes [in this collection] are high heels, but they’re actually comfortable heels. In the summer, I either go for sneakers or comfortable heels. [Almost] every shoe comes in cream, brown and black, so it can go with anything. [As someone who] travels a lot, I like to have a few pairs of shoes that can be interchanged with every outfit.”
As the holiday season begins, however, Roberts is adding some more adventurous pieces to her closet. She explains that she finds herself drawn to a very specific and colorful trend, like clockwork this time of year. “I’ve always loved tie-dye,” she says. “Everyone always tries to get me out of it, but I love it. So it’s a trend that will never die for me.”
Fair enough. Shop Roberts’ must-have ensemble ahead of time, and it’s sure to serve you well throughout spring and summer (and beyond).
