When it comes to hair color, it’s natural to think that spring is all about going lighter.
We’re talking about bronze, onyx and cinnamon, which are darker colors that are everywhere during the transition from winter to warmer weather. Fun brighter shades will also be popular to meet this demand. spring 2023, there’s truly a hair color for everyone.

Soft Copper
One of the “trendy” hair colors for 2022, copper will stay popular in the new year (and possibly beyond). According to celebrity hairstylist Ashley Gomila, this red is perfect for spring because of its vibrancy and freshness.
But to keep this striking shade of red while making your color look brighter, Gomila recommends using something like Balmain Hair Couture’s Argan Moisturizing Potion on the ends of your hair to protect the strands and lock in the color during heat styling.
Onyx Brunette
According to celebrity colorist Cassandra Keading, dark hair is here to stay and will be popular by spring 2023. From the deepest of dark browns to sexy blacks, she says these colors are shiny, rich and deeply saturated. 100 percent of course you want to go that route.
“These deeper shades can be more difficult to mitigate,” she explains. “So when you’re ready to come back in a lighter way, know that getting you back is a long, slow process [and requires] multiple trips to the salon, which can be timely and definitely expensive.”
Bronze Hues
When it comes to spring 2023 hair color trends, consider warm tones, says Jaclyn Discala, senior colorist at Mark Hotel Fekkai Salon, who is particularly fond of bronze. With this trend, mixing blondes with bright, dark tones creates a stunning, multi-dimensional effect.
For freshly colored hair, the most important part of at-home hair care is using the right products. discala recommends color-sensitive formulas like Fekkai Technician Color Shampoo and Conditioner to lock in moisture while maintaining vibrant color.
Sandy brown
If you find that some shades of darker colors may be too cool or too warm for your liking, then the sandy brown trend is right for you. keading describes this darker shade as a soft, creamy neutral.
“This color is perfect for people who want to transition from a light or medium honey blonde to a darker color,” she says, “It’s not a big commitment. You can talk to your colorist about a color gloss and it will be in four to four to six weeks.”
Teddy Bear Blondeg
Discala says warm tones are most likely to be popular this spring because they evoke the heat and sunshine of the season. Another warm hue she predicts will be popular once the weather changes is this bright teddy bear blonde, which mixes bright colors with a cool base bringing dimension throughout.
Cinnamon Latte Brunette
Kevin Murphy’s color and style guru Leland Olson, who has revamped the popular copper color, says the hair trend for cinnamon lattes is a deeper red, perfect for those with tan and darker skin tones.” Olson says.
To keep your color vibrant, he says to look for products that balance the pH of your hair. This will help ensure your hair coloring job stays fresh. Something like Kevin Murphy’s Everlasting Color Wash and Leave-In Treatment will lock in color due to the acidic pH that can balance and protect hair.
Tanned Peach Blonde
Olsen calls it the new Strawberry Blonde. It has just the right amount of peach for all skin tones and undertones. “This neutral beige [is] a slightly peachy blonde [that] is a great blonde shade for clients who are transitioning. bronze, but want to maintain a balanced, shiny blonde effect,” he says.
His secret to keeping this shade vibrant: wash your hair with cool water. “The hotter the water, the more color is washed out of the cuticle, resulting in dull, dull hair color,” he explains.
Cool Champagne Platinum
Keading says, “This year, we’re going to see a twist on platinum: a cool champagne platinum. This blonde keeps it cool, but has a soft golden touch.” This color goes well with all skin tones [and] is fun because it can be a solid color, or you can add a little shade of root to get some depth and movement.”
To make this color look shiny and bright, she says using a color-safe shampoo is key, and recommends something like K18’s PH Maintenance Shampoo. “It’s a gentle cleansing shampoo that will keep your color in place,” she explains.
